ENGR 407 Technology Based Entrepreneurship (3 credits)

ENGR 407 is the "Creativity" class that is a shared requirement for both the ELD and Engineering Entrepreneurship minors. This class seeks to:

[a] Promote creative out-of-the-box thinking,

[b] promote risk analysis and risk taking,

[c] provide students with hands-on entrepreneurial experiences (i.e. they must start businesses and make money as part of the course requirements) and

[d] provide students with basic finance, accounting, and business planning skills.

Topics covered include basic product creation/development techniques and basic concepts related to business and entrepreneurship such as business planning and intellectual properties. The final project for this class involves the creation of a business plan focused on the acquisition of financing, including: SWOT analysis, marketing, pro forma income statements, and return on investment analysis.
